5° FORO DE ESTUDIOS EN LENGUAS INTERNACIONAL (FEL 2009)

CALL FOR PAPERS

The University of Quintana Roo, through the Department of Language and Education, invites professors, students, researchers and people interested in the field of languages to participate in the 5° Foro de Estudios en Lenguas Internacional, FEL (Forum of Language Studies). This event will be held on 7-9 October 2009 in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

 In this year’s event, undergraduate and graduate students will be given the opportunity to present their work.

 The topics for presentations are:

• Program and syllabus design and classroom resource aids
• Distance learning in the language classroom
• Assessment and evaluation
• Teacher training
• Linguistics
• Language teaching methodology
• The use of technology in language teaching
• Translation and interpretation in language teaching
• Language and culture

The program will be structured around parallel sessions with two different formats: presentations and workshops.

• Presentations will last 40 minutes. The speaker(s) will be given 30 minutes to present his/her topic, and an additional 10 minutes for questions and/or comments.

• Workshops will last 75 minutes. The speaker(s) will be given 60 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for questions and/or comments.

Deadline for the submission of proposals:

All participants interested must submit their proposal(s) by 19 May 2009. All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by the FEL Committee. Participants will be notified of results on  23 June 2009 by email. After confirming participants’ presentations, an official invitation will be sent out.

Proposals must be sent by email to fonael@fonael.org .

Participants will be notified within the following 48 hours when their abstracts are received.

If the proposal is accepted, presenters can send their complete article (s) to be published in the proceedings of the event. All articles will be refereed according to the guidelines (click here to download the guidelines for publishing articles in the proceedings of the FEL). Participants whose proposal is accepted and wish to publish their article (s) in the memoirs must send the electronic texts of their presentations before 25 August 2009.
